Lisnadarragh Wedge Tomb

One of the best Megalithic sites in the region, Lisnadarragh Wedge Tomb, looks like the ribcage of a huge stone giant. A narrow, roofless gallery survives and is made up of more than 20 large stones which average 1.8m in height. These stones decrease in height from southwest to northwest.

The remains of this impressive wedge-tomb, which is known locally as the giant’s grave, can be seen clearly from the road. The orthostats at the front of the narrow gallery are quite large and decrease in height from the front to the back of the monument. Although this wedge tomb is now roofless it is still well worth a visit. One of the roof-stones can be seen leaning into the gallery in the image. The tomb is aligned in a south-west, north-east direction.
